special weather statement in effectElevated sea surface height from a combination of seasonably high tides, storm surge, strong winds and large waves is expected near the outer coast.Locations: West Coast of Vancouver Island from Estevan Point to Clo-oose, including Pacific Rim National Park.Maximum wave heights: 2 to 3 meters, breaking upon approach to shore along shorelines exposed to open ocean.Time Span: Saturday near high tide.High tide: Midday.Remarks: Storm surge, strong southeasterly waves and pounding waves and surf will produce higher than normal water levels along the coast, especially near high tide. Water levels could reach 30 to 40 cm above the normal highest tide. The combined effect may push water and debris into low-lying areas and parking lots, especially at locations that have been prone to impacts during similar events in the past. Beach-goers can be swept into the ocean near rocky outcrops. Powerful waves can roll logs and heavy debris along the beach.CoastSmart.ca is where to find Coastal Safety information you need to make smart decisions when going near the ocean.###Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
