Flood Watch issued May 9 at 3:42PM HST until May 11 at 6:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI...FLOOD WATCH FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII THROUGH 6 AM SATURDAY...* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands.* WHEN...Through late Friday night.* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may beclosed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areasmay receive more significant flooding and property damage due torapid runoff. Remember, flash flooding can occur well downstream.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- A strong upper level disturbance will bring heavy showers andisolated thunderstorms tonight through Friday and Fridaynight. The heaviest downpours will be hit or miss, but wherethey do occur, they will be capable of producing rainfallrates in excess of 3 inches per hour. The threat for flashflooding is expected to be the greatest Friday through Fridayevening. Conditions should steadily improve from west to eastlate Friday into Saturday.Remember that it does not have to be raining at your location forflash flooding to occur. If you notice signs of heavy rain orthunderstorms upslope, move quickly away from flood prone areas.You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take actionshould Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
