Flood Watch issued May 14 at 4:20AM HST until May 17 at 8:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI...Flood Watch for the entire State of Hawaii Wednesday through atleast Friday...* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands.* WHEN...From Wednesday morning through Friday evening.* IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow ofstreams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, alongwith property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff.Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- A kona low developing north of the state will bring thepotential for heavy rain and thunderstorms over portions ofthe state from Wednesday through Friday and possiblycontinuing through the weekend. The highest chances forexcessive rainfall appear to be over Oahu and Maui countylater Wednesday and Wednesday night, then slowly shiftwestward, with the focus mainly on Kauai by later Friday.You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take actionshould Flash Flood Warnings be issued.Remember that it does not have to be raining at your location forflash flooding to occur. If you notice signs of heavy rain orthunderstorms upslope, move quickly away from flood prone areas.

Flood Advisory issued May 14 at 1:01PM HST until May 14 at 4:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.* WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County.* WHEN...Until 400 PM HST.* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and instreams.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 1257 PM HST, radar indicated slow moving heavy rainshowers mainly over the slopes of Hilo, Hamakua, Kohala andKona districts. The heaviest rain was falling over the slopesof South Hilo District. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 2inches per hour. Additional heavy rain showers will bepossible through the afternoon.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Waikoloa Village, Honokaa, Pohakuloa Camp,Pohakuloa Training Area, Kamuela, Paauilo, Waipio Valley,Ookala, Kukuihaele, Laupahoehoe, Waimanu Valley, Puuanahulu,Ninole, Honomu, Hakalau, Pepeekeo, Papaikou and Volcano.Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas proneto flooding.
