Flood Watch issued May 15 at 4:11AM HST until May 17 at 8:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI...FLOOD WATCH FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY...* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands.* WHEN...Through Friday evening.* IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow ofstreams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, alongwith property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff.Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- A kona low developing to our north will bring the potentialfor heavy rain and thunderstorms over the Aloha State todaythrough at least Friday. The highest chance for excessiverainfall appears to be over Oahu and possibly Maui countystarting tonight, and persisting through Thursday. The focusfor heavy rainfall then likely shifts toward Kauai on Friday.However, these details could change, and all areas should beprepared for the possibility of flash flooding.You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take actionshould Flash Flood Warnings be issued.Remember that it does not have to be raining at your location forflash flooding to occur.
