Flash Flood Warning issued June 17 at 6:19AM CDT until June 17 at 11:00AM CDT by NWS Sioux Falls SDAt 619 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicatedthunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch arepossible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expectedto begin shortly.HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poordrainage and low-lying areas.Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...Ponca, North Sioux City, Elk Point, Akron, Jefferson, Newcastle,Ponca State Park and Westfield.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or lawenforcement and request they pass this information to the NationalWeather Service when you can do so safely.
