Air Quality Alert issued May 14 at 3:51PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LAThe Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality is forecasting anOzone Advisory Day for East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge,Livingston, Ascension, Iberville, and Pointe Coupee Parishes, .The Air Quality Index indicates that ozone will be at the Orangelevel, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Increasing ozonelevels may cause unhealthy air quality during afternoon hours.Active children and adults, the elderly, and people with respiratorydiseases such as asthma should avoid prolonged outdoor exertion.Please take whatever voluntary steps you can to reduce emissionsthat contribute to ozone formation. Drive less and make sure yourautomobile is in good working condition. Make sure your gas cap istight. Wait until after 6 PM to refuel your vehicle and use gaspowered lawn equipment. Recreational campsand river bottom farm land will be under water.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 9:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 48.3 feet.- Bankfull stage is 46.0 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 51.5feet Tuesday, May 21.
