Flood Warning issued May 21 at 2:51PM CDT until May 21 at 6:00PM CDT by NWS Omaha/Valley NE* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring, and isexpected to continue through the afternoon.* WHERE...Portions of southwest Iowa, including the followingcounties, Harrison, Pottawattamie and Shelby and Nebraska,including the following counties, Burt, Butler, Colfax, Dodge,Douglas, Saunders and Washington.* WHEN...Until 600 PM CDT.* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lyingand flood-prone locations is occurring. Streams continue to risedue to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take severalhours for all the water from these storms to work through localdrainage systems. Please avoid any flooded roadways.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 249 PM CDT, emergency management, trained spotters, andthe public reported very heavy rainfall across the warnedarea early this morning. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain havefallen over much of the warned area, with some locationsreceiving 8 inches or more.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Omaha, northern Council Bluffs, Fremont, Blair, Harlan,Wahoo, David City, Tekamah, Bennington, Boys Town, Elkhorn,Carter Lake, Missouri Valley, Valley, Logan, Avoca,Arlington, North Bend, Yutan and Underwood.Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.
