Tropical Storm Watch issued September 25 at 11:05AM EDT by NWS Columbia SCA Tropical Storm Watch means tropical storm-force winds are possiblesomewhere within this area within the next 48 hours* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- Lexington- Batesburg- Cayce- West Columbia* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Below tropical storm force wind- Peak Wind Forecast: 20-30 mph with gusts to 55 mph- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Wind less than 39 mph- PLAN: The sustained wind should remain less than tropicalstorm force. Conditions may still be gusty.- PREPARE: Little to no preparations needed to guard againsttropical winds at this time.- ACT: Ensure emergency readiness should the forecast change.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Little to None- Little to no potential impacts from wind.* FLOODING RAIN- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST:- Peak Rainfall Amounts: Additional 2-4 inches, with locallyhigher amounts- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for majorflooding rain- PLAN: Emergency plans should include the potential formajor flooding from heavy rain. If a tornadowarning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Significant- The occurrence of scattered tornadoes can hinder theexecution of emergency plans during tropical events.- Several places may experience tornado damage with a fewspots of considerable damage, power loss, andcommunications failures.- Locations could realize roofs torn off frame houses, mobilehomes demolished, boxcars overturned, large trees snappedor uprooted, vehicles tumbled, and small boats tossedabout.
