Flood Watch issued September 26 at 11:11AM EDT until September 27 at 2:00PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including thefollowing areas, Bamberg, Calhoun, Central Orangeburg,Chesterfield, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, NorthernLancaster, Northwestern Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda and SouthernLancaster.* WHEN...Through Friday afternoon.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occurin poor drainage and urban areas.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Rainfall amounts associated with Hurricane Helene across theCentral Savannah River Area are expected to range from 3 to 5inches. Isolated higher amounts are possible. Flood Warning issued September 26 at 11:24AM EDT by NWS Columbia SC...The National Weather Service in Columbia SC has issued a FloodWarning for the following rivers in South Carolina...Congaree River At Carolina Eastman affecting Lexington, Richlandand Calhoun Counties.Congaree River At Congaree River at Congaree NP Near Gadsdenaffecting Richland and Calhoun Counties.Congaree River At Congaree River at Columbia affecting Lexingtonand Richland Counties.Enoree River At Whitmire affecting Newberry and Union Counties.Wateree River At Lake Wateree affecting Fairfield, Lancaster andKershaw Counties.* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood ofrecord.* WHERE...Wateree River at Lake Wateree.* WHEN...From Friday afternoon until further notice.* IMPACTS...At 100.4 feet, The piers on the Wildlife Road bridgeover Singleton Creek become submerged.At 102.5 feet, Roadways near Beaver Creek become flooded.At 103.0 feet, Home owners on low lying property have to movebelongings out of basements or from under raised houses. Boatlaunch on U.S. Highway 1 at the lake closed due to flood water.At 105.0 feet, Roads and homes nearest the lake shore flood.Flooded roads isolate areas extending from the lake shore.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 10:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 97.1 feet.- Bankfull stage is 100.0 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stageearly tomorrow afternoon and continue rising to 106.3 feetTuesday morning. Tropical Storm Warning issued September 26 at 5:09PM EDT by NWS Columbia SC* LOCATIONS AFFECTED- Camden- Lugoff* WIND- LATEST LOCAL FORECAST: Tropical storm force wind gusts expected- Peak Wind Forecast: 20-30 mph with gusts to 50 mph- THREAT TO LIFE AND PROPERTY THAT INCLUDES TYPICAL FORECASTUNCERTAINTY IN TRACK, SIZE AND INTENSITY: Potential for wind 39to 57 mph- The wind threat has remained nearly steady from theprevious assessment.- PLAN: Plan for hazardous wind of equivalent tropical stormforce.- PREPARE: Remaining efforts to protect property should becompleted as soon as possible. Prepare for limited winddamage.- ACT: Move to safe shelter before the wind becomes hazardous.- POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Limited- Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchoredmobile homes.
