Flood Watch issued May 1 at 3:08PM CDT until May 2 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to bepossible.* WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes,Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Northern Calcasieu,Rapides and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the followingareas, Hardin, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Northern Orange,Southern Jasper, Southern Newton, Tyler and Upper Jefferson.* WHEN...From 1 AM CDT Thursday through Thursday evening.* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks andstreams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- Convection is expected to develop over South Central Texaslate today. This area of convection will scoot eastwardbeneath a lower level shortwave trof, arriving to southeastTexas Thursday morning. Ahead of the trof, lowering heightsand deeply entrenched moisture over Louisiana will assist inthe development of showers into central and southeast Texaslate tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will spread intosoutheast Texas counties prior to sunrise Thursday morningand continue spreading eastward through the morning. Veryrain-efficient conditions are expected with PWAT values 1.60to 1.95 inches in place ahead of storms. Rainfall rates of 1to 3 inches per hour will be possible and areas with ongoingflooding are urged to be mindful of very swiftly exacerbatedflooding conditions. Current forecasts indicate the line willmove fairly progressively, however, any deviation or slow-down of precipitation would likely result in another 2 to 4inches of rain inside the flood watch area.
