Air Quality Alert issued May 13 at 4:26AM CDT by NWS Green Bay WIThe Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an AirQuality Advisory for PM2.5 which will remain in effect until10:00 AM CDT today. This advisory affects people living in thefollowing counties: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Forest,Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Marathon, Marinette,Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Vilas,Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago and Wood.The first round of Canadian wildfire smoke of 2024 is currentlyimpacting the region. Air quality will be in the Unhealthy forSensitive Groups (USG) to Unhealthy PM2.5 AQI categories. Smokewill continue moving from northwest to southeast behind a coldfront, and is expected to eventually impact the entire state latertoday. Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) AQI PM2.5concentrations are anticipated today before transitioning backtoward Moderate to Good AQI later today into Tuesday. The currentAir Quality Advisory will be updated this morning after thesituation is reassessed. Since the air quality index could reachthe UNHEALTHY level, people with heart or lung disease, olderadults, and children should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion.Everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion.For more information on current air quality, please see:https://airquality.wi.gov
